Project
A wraparound jacket for a retelling of the Izanami and Izanagi myth — the story of a god who follows his wife into the land of the dead.
The cover treats the myth as a diptych: Izanagi alive, Izanami transformed. Both figures occupy the same world but face away from one another, separated by the spine of the book itself — a literal threshold the reader crosses to open the story.
Palette and ornament draw on early woodblock printmaking, but the linework is kept fine and modern to let the figures sit with the reader, not in costume.
