Project
The sea god rises from a burning ocean — a single boat, dwarfed beneath, as witness.
The piece sits in the moment of arrival: the surface broken, the world tilted to a scale the small boat at the bottom of the frame cannot possibly answer for. The creature is rendered with a deliberate split palette — cold blue scale across the crown, molten reds in the mouth and beneath the eyes — so the figure reads as both ancient and burning.
A response to Lovecraft’s story of the same name, focused not on the protagonist’s madness but on the indifference of what he sees.
